Life can be really tough at times. It’s nonstop, includes other people and their lives, and can take some crazy turns at the last minute. But one of the best things you can do to be on your A game is to be able to recognize when you’ve fallen off… or are on the verge of falling off. lol
Here are 5 signs that you need to slow down in life.
If you’re following me on SnapChat (@brittgarrison), you know that I was in Cancun for 4 days last week before I posted highlights on IG. I had SO much fun with three of my childhood best friends [since middle school] and came back feeling refreshed. It was literally the first vacation that I didn’t need a vacation from in my adult life and I loved every moment of chill.
Over the past 30 days I have been on what I call a “life detox.” After discovering some extremely disappointing truths, I found myself slumping into a negative headspace. I slowly started to spiral out of control due to letting my emotions govern my actions. And it was obvious to anyone that saw me both in person, or on social media. I needed more than just a hand wave in front of my face to snap me back into the present. I needed to really focus, and channel my emotions inward to get back to the woman I used to know. Last week a friend shared the interview below with me and it really spoke to me. If you are currently reevaluating the relationships in your life (be it romantic, friendship, or professional), this interview is for you too… It’s a little long but so worth it!
Some of my favorite quotes from the interview:
“People are like elevators. The right people will take you up, and the wrong people will take you down.”
“The worst thing you can give someone is what they used to need.”
“Secret places always lead to secret battles that lead to secret honey.”
“Some people abort their future on the altar of their past.”
Greatest relationship mistake: Too much + Too soon + Too freely = A Disaster
“Value is assessed by what you are willing to sacrifice.”
“The Holy spirit will lead us into our truth.”
“You cannot trust a person that will not show you their wounds.”
If you’re a regular snapper you know that almost EVERYONE turns into a master chef when they’re cooking on SnapChat. The playlist is usually either super sexy or super ratchet and impressive plating is a must – major keys in the production LOL. (seriously) But I have to admit it is one of my guilty pleasures too. So here we are, letting my snap live on on my blog forever.
Can you believe we are in February of 2016 already!? It’s scary how fast the days and weeks fly by! It feels like we were just celebrating Christmas and New Years yesterday… Seriously.
Anyways, I wanted to start a new “series” where I post my current favorite things at the end of each month. I always see a lot of bloggers doing this and really enjoy their posts so why not chime in too!
The things that truly interest me now are almost mind-boggling when I look at where I was mentally just a few years ago. Not to say that I am a completely different person (because I still replace dinner with cereal, buy “pack panties”, and argue with my 16 year old sister like I’m in high school too LOL) but a lot has changed for sure!
Here my top 10 moments when I realized I’m “getting old”:
Over the weekend I attended my company’s holiday party at Cuvee lounge in Chicago, IL. I was a little skeptical at first given the low ratings on Yelp, but ended up having a BLAST! The DJ was on point, there was plenty of seating, and the drinks on the special menu were so good!
Anywho, I decided to do a quick post on my Outfit Of The Night (OOTN) and glam because I was so pleased with how it all came together. Continue reading “Holiday Party OOTN”→
Last week I gave out 5 Beauty Gift Ideas for Her, so this week I decided to return the favor for the guys – sometimes it can be a little difficult shopping for the man (or men) in your life no matter how nonchalant they seem! Plus, we are about 2 weeks away from Christmas and if you are still stumped, hopefully this post can help you.
